Shipping policy
Delivery
Parcels are dispatched on Tuesdays and Fridays, orders must be received by 16:30 (UK time) at the latest on the day prior in order to be included in the postal manifest.
If, for any reason, there will be a delay of more than a couple of days, we will contact you using the email address you supplied with your order.
UK orders will be dispatched via Royal Mail 1st Class. All International orders will be dispatched with a tracking number. Tracking numbers will automatically be emailed to the customer with dispatch notification.
Risk of Loss
We cannot be held responsible for any lost packages. However, we will support you and work together in any way we can to help track down any lost parcels.
EU – GPSR, Import tax and Custom duties
The Birlinn Yarn Company is GPSR compliant to sell yarn into the EU.

Please note that after the 13 December 2025, we can sell yarn and yarn kits to the EU but we cannot sell the following items: sheepskins, haberdashery, books and printed patterns. However, all customers can purchase our patterns through The Birlinn Yarn Company Ravelry account: HERE
At checkout EU Import Tax (as applicable in the EU country) will be calculated and charged at check out up to an order value of 150 Euros. Your parcel will be allocated an IOSS number which will enable it to pass through international customers swiftly without paying a customs handling fee. Orders over 150 Euros are not applicable under this scheme and will be sent under DPU – Delivered Duties Unpaid – the receiver will be required to pay taxes within their country before receiving their order.
Please note – IOSS can only be used for business (Birlinn Yarn) to customer orders not business to business orders so delivery must be to a home address.
USA – Duties and Tariffs post August 2025
Customers in the USA are now required to pay a 10% IEEPA tariff on UK goods imported into USA.
At checkout, 10% US tariff is applied such that the US customer pays all applicable tariffs at point of sale. Your parcel is sent by Royal Mail service Postal Deliveries Duties Paid (PDDP) with all the taxes and customs duties paid by the customer prior to dispatch ensuring compliance with latest US legislation.
